This formal dining table is built of cherry (top, base, fields of pedestal panels) and pencil stripe sapele (turned columns, frames on pedestal panels). The design was inspired by the empire furniture of France and Germany, which in turn was inspired by Roman and Greek design. The inlaid fans in the tabletop are done in walnut and holly, two highly contrasting woods. The metal "jewelry" on the table is brass and was provided by Optimum Brasses of England, producers of very high quality historic designs.
