Museum of Northern Arizona table

I recently offered to donate a piece of my furniture for the Museum of Northern Arizona to auction in their annual Gala and they accepted.  With their expertise guiding me I selected 4 pieces of locally made jewelry to add some "bling" to the side table designed expressly for the event.  And after insightful help  from a museum anthropologist (leading to a little re-design), I built this table.  The inlay is all hand-made in my shop and the silver and turquoise bracelets are removable for wearing. A cache of mahogany came into my hands from a barn in El Paso, Texas, where it sat, undisturbed for over 50 years. The spectacular jewelry that adorns this table cried out for a noble wood without showy grain and the mahogany was perfect.

I was delighted to find out from the auctioneer on the night of the gala that Western Art Collector (see page 106) had devoted a few paragraphs to the table.  An inspiring collaborative effort between the museum personnel, myself, the auctioneer, and one lucky bidder who took the table home!
