Hanging Couch

The clients wanted a wide couch that was suspended from the overhanging porch roof. And it should be possible to move the couch closer or further from the fireplace depending on the weather. This is the result. Built entirely of local Ponderosa pine with pinned mortise and tenon joinery, the entire couch is suspended on 1/8" black aircraft cable from an overhead trolley to allow the whole couch to move. The trolley is locked into place with clamps. And for fun, there are two flip-up wine glass holders, one on each arm.

Here the couch is close to the fireplace for greater warmth in cold weather.	The upholstery was excellently done by the folks at East Flagstaff Upholstery. All in weather resistant materials.
